Scientific Sessions

One of the most important scientific projects of the student movement in our University are student scientific sessions, which are part of a long-standing tradition of the AGH University of Science and Technology. The first student scientific session of the metallurgy division took place fifty years ago in 1962. Since that time, sessions are held annually in May, and became an important part of the celebrations of metallurgists.

The student scientific sessions at AGH are designed for students – members of scientific circles, who have the opportunity to show their work to a wider audience. However, it seems important that the scientific circles during the sessions can summarize their activities. The student scientific sessions are considered the largest project of this type. They are also a place to exchange views, thoughts, a place for discussions and scientific disputes.

The student scientific sessions are a form of competition, where participants are divided into different thematic sections and subsections. After each presentation there is some time for discussion, which often involves not only students but also faculty and invited representatives from the industry, who both considerably increase the prestige of these meetings. The winners of the first places have the opportunity to present their work during the winners session, as well as the possibility of publication of their scientific achievements in a scientific notebook published by STN.
